Ancestral Healing for Women and the Sacred Feminine: Embracing the Rite of the Womb

There is a lineage of women who freed themselves from suffering. From this lineage came a sacred gift from the jungles of Peru - the 13th Rite of the Munay-Ki: The Rite of the Womb.

This rite is an energetic transmission that reminds us:

The womb is not a place to store fear and pain. The womb is to create and give birth to life.

Origins of the Rite of the Womb

The Rite of the Womb was first received by Marcela Lobos, a Chilean-born medicine woman and teacher with the Four Winds Society. Marcela is married to Dr. Alberto Villoldo, founder of the Four Winds, which has trained thousands of western shamans in the traditions of the Q’ero shamans of the Andes.

Her journey into shamanic healing began after years of carrying trauma from growing up under dictatorship in Chile. In a powerful dream, she encountered midwives and jungle spirits who guided her to release the fear she carried in her womb. Years later, during a ceremony with Shipibo shamans in the Peruvian Amazon, she received the 13th Rite of the Munay-Ki directly from a lineage of women in spirit.

Marcela was told:

“Now it is time to share this rite with as many women as possible. The womb is not a place to store fear and pain. The womb is to create and give birth to life.”

Since then, she has dedicated her life to passing on this transmission. Her goal is for women worldwide to heal themselves, their mothers, sisters, and daughters. In doing so, they help heal the Earth.

The Four Winds Society and the Munay-Ki

The Four Winds Society was founded by Dr. Alberto Villoldo, a psychologist and medical anthropologist who studied with the Q’ero shamans of Peru. His work has been central in bringing Andean and Amazonian healing traditions to the West.

The Munay-Ki rites are a series of energetic transmissions gifted by these shamans. They help humanity step into a new way of being – one that is in harmony with the Earth and rooted in love (“Munay” in Quechua). The Rite of the Womb was added later as the 13th rite, specifically for women, as a way to heal collective feminine trauma.

Why This Rite Matters Today

For centuries, women have carried not only their own wounds but also the imprints of ancestral pain, cultural suppression, and silence. The Rite of the Womb helps us:

  • Release inherited fear and sorrow held in the womb space.

  • Reclaim our power to create, nurture, and give birth to new life (in all its forms).

  • Connect with the cycles of the Earth and the Moon.

  • Step into our lives with greater compassion, freedom, and joy.

Receiving the rite also makes you a Womb Keeper. You become part of a global lineage of women holding and transmitting this healing for future generations.

Experiencing the Rite of the Womb

Today, the Rite of the Womb is shared in ceremonies worldwide. Each gathering is slightly different, but they usually include grounding practices, the transmission of the rite itself, and an offering of prayers to the Earth.

Paula, co-founder of Full Circle Healing in Brighton & Hove, has been gifted this rite by a practitioner trained in the lineage direct from Marcela Lobos and Alberto Villoldo. Her work is rooted in sound healing, astrology, and sacred feminine wisdom. She holds space for women to reconnect with themselves and their creative centre.

Paula offers personalised 1-on-1 Rite of the Womb ceremonies. You can also look out for one of her regular ceremony group events by signing up for the Full Circle Healing mailing list or visiting our events page.

The Importance of Ancestral Healing

Ancestral healing is vital for personal and collective growth. It allows us to confront the shadows of our past. By acknowledging these shadows, we can transform them into sources of strength and wisdom. The Rite of the Womb serves as a powerful tool in this process. It encourages women to embrace their lineage and the stories that come with it.

Healing Through Connection

Connection is at the heart of the Rite of the Womb. When women gather to share their experiences, they create a supportive environment. This space fosters healing and understanding. It reminds us that we are not alone in our struggles. Together, we can uplift each other and break the cycles of pain.

The Role of Community

Community plays a significant role in the healing process. The Rite of the Womb encourages women to come together. This collective energy amplifies the healing experience. It creates a ripple effect that extends beyond the individual. When one woman heals, she contributes to the healing of her family, community, and the Earth.

Embracing the Sacred Feminine

The Sacred Feminine is an essential aspect of our existence. It embodies qualities such as intuition, compassion, and creativity. Embracing the Sacred Feminine allows us to reconnect with our true selves. The Rite of the Womb is a pathway to this reconnection. It invites us to honour our bodies and the life-giving force within us.

Nurturing Creativity

Creativity is a natural expression of the Sacred Feminine. When we heal our womb space, we unlock our creative potential. This can manifest in various forms, from art to motherhood. The Rite of the Womb encourages women to explore their creativity without fear. It empowers us to share our gifts with the world.

Cultivating Intuition

Intuition is a powerful tool. It guides us in making decisions aligned with our true selves. The Rite of the Womb helps women tap into their intuition. By healing the wounds of the past, we clear the path for our inner voice to emerge. This connection to our intuition allows us to navigate life with confidence and clarity.

Closing

The Rite of the Womb is more than a ceremony. It is a call from a lineage of women - past, present, and future - reminding us that healing the womb is healing the Earth.

✨ If you feel drawn, I invite you to explore this rite, whether through study, personal practice, or by joining a ceremony. Together, we are remembering that the womb is not a place to store fear and pain. The womb is to create and give birth to life.

Sending blessings,

Paula
